Help us celebrate 26TEN Week and take part in our Supermarket Challenge. Make the numbers work for you by entering the prize draw!
Estimate the price of the 11 shopping items in the above shopping bag to go in the draw to win a $25 Woolworths voucher and a 26TEN bag with the shopping items included. See the entry form below for images and descriptions of each item.
Tips for Estimating
Estimating is about making educated guesses and getting better with practice. Techniques include:
- Rounding up or down to make calculations easier
- Approximating the price of each item
- Using paper or a calculator to add up each item. Or test yourself by adding up in your head!

Prize draw terms and conditions
- Entries must be received no later than 5 pm (AEST) Monday 30 October 2023.
- Show your calculations of how you estimated the total cost of the bag of shopping.
- Enter online, go to 26ten.tas.gov.au/whatshappening/Pages/26TENWeek2023PrizeDraw, or email your entry form to email@26ten.tas.gov.au.
- There is only one entry per person (at either one library OR online) and entries must be the original work of the entrant.
- Winners will be drawn randomly, on Tuesday 31 October 2023. Prizes will be awarded based on participation, not on having the correct answer.
- The correct answer is based on items purchased from Woolworths on 6 September 2023 with one item being discounted by 50 percent for the purposes of the exercise.
- Winners (first name only) will be listed on the 26TEN and Libraries Tasmania social media platforms, and websites. Winners will be notified by email or phone.
- Prizes are Woolworths vouchers, valued at $25 each. There are 45 vouchers in total that will be allocated to Libraries around Tasmania and 26TEN.
- 26TEN reserves the right to: post submitted entries (using first name only) on the 26TEN and Libraries Tasmania websites, and 26TEN and Libraries Tasmania social media pages; and use entries in future 26TEN media and marketing.
- 26TEN will not accept liability for lost entries.
- Hard copy entries will not be returned to the entrant.
