People in the Huon Valley 26Ten Community worked on their writing skills to produce a book inspired by their love of Lutruwita/Tasmania.

This volume of Lutruwita Love Stories follows the successful publication of the love stories, letters and poems written by people in the Clarence Plains 26Ten Community, last year.

Cupcakes for love stories

These love stories come from the Huon Valley community, with local people sharing personal reflections on their memories, experiences and connections to land. 26Ten Huon Community Coordinator, Lucy, went to local festivals and community groups encouraging people to write. Encouragement often took the form of bribery, with Lucy prepared to exchange cupcakes for stories. With artwork and drawings from the children of the wayraparattee Child and Family Learning Centre, and contributions from a local photographer and artists, the result is a beautiful record of memories, experiences and tributes to Lutruwita.

Kate Bond, 26Ten Community Coordinator in Clarence Plains put the first collection of Lutruwita Love Stories together. She was inspired by Trent Dalton who collected stories from people on the streets of Brisbane and collated them in a book titled Love Stories.

Whether you’re from Lutruwita/Tasmania or just enjoy a good love story, Lutruwita Love Stories is sure to warm your heart.

Lutruwita welcomed me when I was searching for ‘home’.
Her people invited me into their community, her flora and fauna bewitch at every turn.
There’s a peace here that is infectious, it calms me and brings me joy to wake up to this beautiful place every day.
