Join the 26TEN Coalition in 2023

Are you passionate about making a difference?

If you are a leader with the influence, time and passion to contribute to building adult literacy and numeracy skills in Tasmania, please apply to join the 26TEN Coalition.

26TEN is Tasmania’s campaign for adult literacy and numeracy and brings together individuals, business, community and all levels of government to work together to make a difference.

Coalition members are vital to building this collaborative effort through volunteering their expertise to lead and inspire action in their nominated industry sector and community.

Examples of sectors that are not currently represented on the Coalition but might benefit include the legal, finance, tourism, hospitality, media, retail, community and not-for-profit sectors.

26TEN Coalition members also works to bring about change in attitudes towards adult literacy, increase the capacity for people to improve their skills and promote clear communication using plain English.

Expressions of Interest are open now until 27th February 2023.

Members are appointed by the Minister for Education, Children and Youth. They volunteer their expertise to lead and inspire the action needed to build skills in their industry sectors and communities.

Tasmanian leaders from sectors that will benefit from raising awareness and lifting adult literacy are encouraged to apply. We are interested in hearing from those in the legal, finance, tourism, hospitality, media, retail, community and not-for-profit sectors.

The Coalition provides advice to the Department for Education, Children and Young People and the Minister for Education, Children and Youth on adult literacy issues.

What is 26TEN?

26TEN stands for the 26 letters in the alphabet and the ten digits we need for counting – the tools for life. 26TEN aims for all adult Tasmanians to have the literacy and numeracy skills they need to participate in family life, our communities, in learning and at work.
26TEN brings together business, community, government, training organisations and individuals across Tasmania. By working together, we can raise adult literacy and numeracy skills in our State.
