26TEN Long-term Strategy

26TEN Tasmania: a long-term strategy for all Tasmanians

Tasmania is again leading the nation in lifting adult literacy and numeracy levels with the launch of a ten-year strategy.

26TEN Tasmania: Tasmania's strategy for adult literacy and numeracy 2016-2025, and Action Plan October 2015 – October 2017 was launched by the Hon Jeremy Rockliff, Minister for Education and Training today at Parliament House.

The strategy builds on 26TEN's experience of collaborating with businesses, community groups and individuals to raise awareness of the adult literacy challenge.

26TEN helps individuals and organisations take action.

The strategy commits 26TEN to continue to build this genuine collaborative effort so we can make a difference together.

The Minister acknowledged that the strategy is ambitious in its vision for a state where all Tasmanians have the literacy and numeracy skills they need  for work and life.

"We will only achieve the ambitious goals we have set for ourselves if we all work together and make whatever contribution that we can. And, it will be worth it for everyone one of us if we do," he said.
